The object is built from two large rounded planes that approach one another, overlap and at the same time create a sharp intersection between them. A narrow, more pronounced line enters the otherwise subtle, predominantly cool colour palette, introducing tension into the composition and preventing it from becoming static.

It is precisely this combination of softness and precision that is essential to Impression. The form is rounded, almost organic. Its internal construction, however, works with clear cuts, edges and precisely directed lines. The result is an object that does not appear ostentatious, yet gradually reveals more and more spatial relationships the longer it is observed.

The title Impression can be understood in its most basic sense – as an impression, a trace or an immediate perception. The work does not tell a specific story. Rather, it creates a visual situation that changes according to the light, the viewing angle and the viewer’s distance from the object. At first glance, our attention is drawn to the two large rounded sections, which resemble parts of a circle. They are not, however, enclosed within a simple symmetry. Each follows a different direction, and their intersection creates a pronounced notch in the upper part of the sculpture. It is precisely here that the calm silhouette suddenly changes.

Sharp diagonals and a colour accent enter the rounded planes almost like a cut running through the entire object. This creates tension between stability and movement. Colour itself also plays an important role. Subtle blue to slightly violet tones have a luminous quality and allow the purity of the volume to stand out. The more pronounced coloured line inside the object, by contrast, draws the eye towards the point where the individual parts meet.

Colour therefore does not create an effect for its own sake. It helps us read the construction. At first glance, Impression appears extremely clean and simple. Yet objects of this kind tend to be technologically uncompromising. In a composition based on several large, smooth surfaces, there is almost nowhere to hide an inaccuracy. Every edge, every angle and every transition between the individual parts remains visible.

After the thermal processing of the glass and controlled cooling, the crucial stage of mechanical finishing follows. Grinding defines the final geometry of the object and determines how the individual surfaces connect. The subsequent polishing has not only an aesthetic but also an optical function. A perfectly finished surface allows light to enter the glass, pass through its volume and emphasise the internal lines as well as differences in the thickness of the material.

Light therefore completes what the construction has begun. With dimensions of 25 × 35 × 6 cm, Impression has particularly suitable proportions for a residential interior. The work does not need a monumental space in order to stand out, yet it is distinctive enough to function as an independent sculptural object.

It works particularly well on a console, chest of drawers or independent plinth. For the character of the piece, it is important to leave a certain amount of visual calm around it. Light is especially beneficial. In soft daylight, the object appears delicate and airy. Side lighting, by contrast, emphasises the thickness of the glass, the sharp cuts and the coloured detail within. An interesting effect can also be achieved by placing it against a light, neutral background, where the purity of the silhouette becomes most apparent.

The work can function particularly well in a minimalist interior, study, quiet living area or representative space, where its presence is not based on the strength of colour but on the quality of form and light. Impression is particularly compelling because of its restraint. It shows Petra Hřebačková in a mode where she does not need an extensive colour palette or a complicated construction to create a strong object. A few precise relationships between forms, light and a single distinctive internal intervention are enough.

For collectors, it may also be significant that this is a new work from 2026documenting the current direction of the artist’s practice. Impression is not an object based on immediate visual impact. Its qualities emerge gradually – in the precision of its proportions, the changing colour and the way the two simple masses continually reconfigure themselves with every new viewpoint.

It is a work that does not rely on a loud gesture. A single precise impression is enough – an impression that remains.

More about the artist >>> here <<<

More works by Petra Hřebačková >>> here <<<

Popis: Impression, barevné sklo tavené ve formě a následně k sobě lepené za studena, broušeno

Rozměry: 25 x 35 x 6 cm

Autor: Petra Hřebačková

Datace: 2026

[34,20

post-726","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_cat-v-galerii","product_cat-petra-hrebackova","first","instock","taxable","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple
["GET
